Islington has some of North London’s best public tennis courts, but they’re spread across different parks and all run through the same booking system — Better, operated by GLL. Highburyfieldstenniscourts.co.uk reads live availability from that system every few minutes and lays it out as one easy-to-read map, so you can find an open court in seconds instead of clicking through each venue.
The Islington tennis courts we track
Highbury Fields tennis courts
Highbury Fields has 11 outdoor courts beside the park in N5 — the largest set of public courts in the borough and usually the easiest place to find a game. See live availability above and book →
Islington Tennis Centre — indoor & outdoor
On Market Road in N7, the Islington Tennis Centre has 6 indoor courts you can play in any weather, plus 2 floodlit outdoor courts that run late into the evening. It’s the only indoor tennis option in Islington — ideal when it’s raining or dark.
Rosemary Gardens tennis courts
Two outdoor courts in a quiet garden setting in N1, near Islington’s border with Hackney — handy and usually calmer than Highbury
Tufnell Park tennis courts
Two outdoor courts in N7, on the north-western edge of Islington — a convenient option if you’re up towards Tufnell Park or Holloway
How it works
Every court above is booked through Better (GLL). Highburyfieldstenniscourts.co.uk checks Better’s live booking data continuously and shows you, hour by hour, how many courts are free at each venue for today and the next five days. Green means courts are open — tap any slot to go straight to Better and book it.
Courts are pay-and-play, booked by the hour; the current price for each slot is shown before you book. And when you find a slot you want but it’s already full, tap the bell to set a free court alert — we’ll email or message you the moment someone cancels and it opens up.
